The Hanoi police have busted a group selling counterfeit products on Facebook including fake Marshall and Fujisu speakers, smartwatches and vacuum cleaners and seized 25,500 items.

Five people, led by Le Huu Minh, 30, are being investigated for selling fake goods, and the confiscated goods are worth around VND22 billion (US$844,000), the police said Friday.

The group operated a Facebook page to sell the products, most of them audio equipment purportedly made by popular U.K. brand Marshall.

They even ran fake promotion programs to celebrate "10 years of establishment" of the Marshall brand, offering "discounts" of up to 70% on speakers, headphones and amplifiers.

They sold through a fake website, marshall-store.com, which has an interface similar to the official Marshall website.

Buyers would receive the products through delivery companies, but the sellers frequently changed their logistics company to avoid being tracked by the police.

Most of the fake goods cost less than VND1 million ($38), much lower than the prices of genuine products.

Among the products seized were 12,200 smartwatches, 6,000 Marshall earbuds, 1,700 Marshall Emberton speakers, and 2,550 Fujisu vacuum cleaners.

The police also found in their possession many fashion products and accessories without proper proof of authenticity.
